A transistor which is used in the amplification and the control of electric current is a solid state device which is created from a semiconducting material. These three guys were jointly awarded the 1956 Nobel Prize in physics for their outstanding work.
With the technological advancement, there arose the different disciplines and process that brought about the invention of new transistors. The bunch of transistors included the grown-junction germanium, the point-contact germanium, the alloy-silicon based and the surface germanium, as well as the field effect transistors, also referred to as the FET, and the junction field effect transistor abbreviated as JFET.
